Lassies buying clithes , Mannies gettin’ bonny presents,

Roaring cars awae,

Fowk shouting “Taxi!,”

Lads whispering “Lets get a bite tae eat,”

Auld folk buying newspapers,

Tae see fits gan on in the world,

Eating awa at their food,

A tak im oot,

Mi Ma comes in i room

The gerbil gings back in ‘is cage,

Lassies runnin to get a the bargins,

Wee bairns scurlin, “I’ve lost ma ma,”

Listenin to the pingin o the tills,

Fowk whisperin, “I got this for twa pound,”

Ootside the shops there’s a sea a fowk,

I’m drappin a ma clithes as the fowk rush past,

Fit a day at the shops!

Yesterday we went to a Choices for Life event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre where we heard stories about two people who took drugs.We also heard music from Bels Boys, Pacific Avenue, Macdonald Brothers and Natalie James. A theatre group called Pace did a play about drugs and how friendships can be broken due to it.

At our school we have a new kitchen for classes to cook in so that they can learn about healthy, fresh food.  Every Wednesday a cookery club meets after school.  We have a new cookery blog so that we can share what they do. Visit it here.

Yesterday we had a smoking talk for health week.  

A man from the National Health Grampian came to show us what happens to a smoker’s body when they smoke.

The effects of smoking can be really bad; you can get lung cancer, and stomach cancer.

Your teeth and skin become yellow and your house, breath and clothes, smell of smoke.

This jar of tar is how much tar a 20-a-day smoker puts in their body from smoking a year!

This is a review of a film that we saw recently with the school.

In this film two children are bullied at school so they decide to create an imaginative world to escape to. 

Jess is a quiet, lonely boy but when Lesley moves in everything changes. The more Jess grows to like the bold, daring, imaginative Lesley the more his personality seems to spill out! At school Jess and Lesley are bullied by the mean Janice and at home Jess is bullied by his older sisters. But his younger sister really looks up to him and she seems to have a heart of gold. Jess and Lesley don’t really like their strict class teacher but they think that the music teacher is fantastic! And Jess seems to have a secret crush on her! 

Jess and Lesley spend most of their time in an imaginary world called Terabithia filled with magical beasts, tree trolls and a tree house fit for a king! And it can only be accessed by swinging across and old rope. Their school is just a normal everyday school. But it’s full of bullies! Jess has a pretty sad life with bullies everywhere.

But then Lesley moves in and becomes his only friend. And together they escape the mean world and enter Terabithia! In Terabithia they fight imaginary beasts, create a tree house and they even get a special troll hunter! But then one day it all goes wrong! Jess goes out for the day only to find a nasty surprise waiting at home!! 

The Bridge to Terabithia is an adventure story but it is packed with fun and action too. All of the Terabithian creatures look real. Sometimes you can barely tell what’s real and what’s not! 

This film would mainly appeal to girls and boys aged about nine through early teens although some adults may enjoy it too. The film was breath taking, funny and your eyes became glued to the screen! But also so sad that it can bring tears to your eyes.

We  have been learning about drug with our teacher and P.C Morrans. We were learning about  different drugs yesterday. We were looking at illegal drugs and here are examples: Cannabis, Herion, L.s.d, Solvent,crack cocaine, marajuana and smack. Here is a photo of us looking at the drugs.

Bridge to Terabithia is a good film that was released for public viewing this April. All the crew, including the director, made the film The Chronicles of Narnia. The two main characters make the magical world Terabithia, just to get away from the real world. The film is also a book.

Jess and Leslie are two friends who meet after Leslie beats Jess in the annual grade race. As the two are getting bullied, they realize they have something in common. The bullies are bullying the whole school. The main bully, Janice, even makes girls pay to go to the toilet. Jess has a secret crush on the lovely music teacher Mrs Evans and that is why his little sister teases him.

Jess and Leslie make the magical world Terabithia so that they can hang out with each other whilst talking about their problems at school. After someone dies trying to swing over to Terabithia using a deserted swing rope, Jess, by himself, builds a bridge to Terabithia. And at school that’s where the trouble begins for them such as the bullying.

When Leslie beats Jess in the annual grade race Jess doesn’t talk to her. But after Leslie looks in Jess’ sketchpad they become friends. While racing into the woods close to their house they find an old, deserted swing rope on which they swing over to the other side. On that other side they make the magical kingdom Terabithia to hang out with each other. After a few weeks someone dies by falling off the swing rope and Jess decides to build a bridge to Terabithia.

Bridge to Terabithia is an emotional film that took almost 1½ to make. During making the film the director used a technique called double imaging. Double Imaging is a technique in which a person films a setting for a period of time then filming the characters doing something in front of a green screen. They also use CGI, Computer Graphic Imaging, to make an imaginary character such as the giant Janice by making a person wear a green suit.

Bridge to Terabithia is rated as a PG, or Parental Guidance. The director says the film is suitable for children aged 8 or over to watch it on his or her own but most people think it should be a U. It is an emotional film. Younger children may be saddened by the course of events that take place in the film. Contains scary scenes and emotional disturbances.
